Breakthrough Strategy and MAGIC Project Join Forces to Expand Clinical Evidence Ecosystem in U.S.
May 8, 2019, Ellicott City, MD, USA — Breakthrough Healthcare, a U.S.-based healthcare consulting firm, and MAGIC Project, an international nonprofit research organization, have formalized a relationship to bring MAGIC’s clinical guidelines platform to the United States healthcare market.
MAGIC Project was founded to improve the creation, dissemination and dynamic updating of clinical practice guidelines, evidence summaries and decision aids. Using the GRADE clinical guidelines development methodology and through international collaboration, MAGIC has created a digital ecosystem of clinical evidence with a global user base. MAGIC’s software-as-a-service MAGICapp enables the rapid incorporation of new evidence and data, resulting in “living” guidelines and evidence statements, and the automated creation of decision support and shared decision-making tools.
Breakthrough’s collaboration with MAGIC will focus on building MAGIC’s user base in the United States. Specifically, Breakthrough will work to develop relationships with medical specialty societies, clinical guidelines development organizations, academic centers, health systems, federal agencies, and healthcare information technology vendors.
“We are thrilled to enter this exciting relationship with Breakthrough,” said Per Olav Vandvik, MAGIC Board Chair. “We have finally found what we have been looking for to allow organisations in the US to make full use of our services, to the benefit of clinicians and their patients.”
“The rapid synthesis of clinical evidence and real-world data to inform best practice is an ideal whose time has come,” added Breakthrough President Sam Walters. “I look forward to working with MAGIC’s team to bring the United States into a global evidence network that will accelerate the pace of clinical practice innovation and improvement.”
