Our Team

Sam Walters, MBA, CAE
President

In his 20-year career, Sam has worked across diverse healthcare organizations in the domains of clinical registries, quality measurement and improvement, research, technology, clinical guidelines, marketing, and organizational strategy. He has worked as both an employee and consultant to over 25 healthcare organizations, including medical societies, healthcare technology and analytics providers, accreditation organizations, health systems, government agencies, and patient advocacy foundations. His diverse skillset includes strategic and business planning, market research, patient registry and clinical dataset design, quality measure design, quality improvement program design, digital product development, research program development, data analytics, corporate relations, and business process improvement.

In addition to his role leading Breakthrough, Sam is the Global Business Manager for the MAGIC Evidence Ecosystem Foundation, a nonprofit that provides a platform for rapidly developing and disseminating clinical practice guidelines. He is also a co-founder of The Quality Collaborative, a peer-to-peer community and educational platform for healthcare quality professionals.

Dan Lattoz
Executive Consultant

Dan has over 30 years of health information technology experience. Over the past 20 years, he has designed and built clinical data registries for medical societies and other organizations that include the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Inovalon, Health Process Management, and HSS (Ingenix, Inc.). His expertise includes performance measurement, dataset design, data modeling, outcomes reporting, risk modeling/adjustment, data collection forms design, data quality reporting, and patient accounting/management.
