With their growing interest in clinical care, big data players such as Google, Apple and Amazon should look to specialty societies as the source of clinical expertise and intellectual capital that can be transformative to their efforts. Specialty societies can also be a trusted partner to ensure patient privacy and the ethical use of emerging digital tools and information.
